Police in Kalulushi have arrested a 28 year old man for allegedly causing the death of his grandmother.

Copperbelt Police Chief Peacewell Mweemba confirmed the development stating that Blessings Mumbi of house number C1 Chimene compound is alleged to have murdered his grandmother.

Mr Mweemba identified the deceased as Joyce Chibwe of house number 26 Kombe road.

Mr Mweemba said the murder was reported on 16 May 2024 at around 11:40 hours adding that on the same day between 05:00 hours to 07:30 hours, husband to the deceased, Musanshi Martin reported that his wife was murdered by Mumbi, their adopted son.

He explained that at around 21:30 hours the same day relatives to Mr Musanshi apprehended the suspect who was at large after the incident.

Police have instituted a postmortem conducted to ascertain the cause of death.
