The Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Watermarq Limited, to strengthen water security and basin resilience in the country.
Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation Permanent Secretary, Romas Kamanga said the partnership is expected to foster the government’s efforts in ensuring there is sustainable water supply in the wake of climate change and other water related challenges.
ZANIS reports that Mr Kamanga stated that water is essential for the country’s growth and development, hence the need to enhance partnerships that foster sustainable water supply.
Meanwhile, Watermarq Limited Chief Executive Officer, Alex Money, disclosed that the MOU is a significant step towards addressing the challenges facing Zambia’s water sector, including climate change, water scarcity, and inadequate infrastructure.
Dr Money stated that by working together with the Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation, his company will provide knowledge based resources and leverage its network of relationships in order to support current and future work in natural capital accounting, inter basin transfers and resource mobilization among others.
He added that the company will also promote sustainable water management practices.
