Kasenengwa district receives school infrastructure

Kasenengwa District in Eastern Province has reportedly continued to face a critical shortage of infrastructure in various schools.

District Education Board Secretary (DEBS), Mathias Chuunga told ZANIS in Kasenengwa that the challenge of inadequate infrastructure is particularly being faced in primary and community schools.

“We have a number of primary and community schools that have insufficient learning space in the district,’’ he said.

Mr Chuunga however, indicated that his office received about twenty school projects under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to ensure learners have enough learning space.

The DEBS disclosed that of the received projects, seven have already been handed over to different schools while the remaining ones are yet to be handed over.

He added that the local authority in the district has already been engaged to do a partial handover of the remaining projects to enable learners to use the classroom blocks.

“We have requested the council to partially hand over the classroom blocks because it is also one way of looking after them as opposed to waiting for the projects to be fully completed,’’ he explained.

Mr Chuunga has however commended the government for CDF stating that the program is going to improve the learning environment academically.
