President Hakainde Hichilema says the upgrade of the  Zambia-China relations into a Comprehensive Strategic and Cooperative Partnership has resulted in the acceleration of many economic projects in Zambia.

The President is also happy that the enhanced cooperation between the two countries has led to the de-watering of the Luanshya Copper Mines which will lead to its eventual reopening.

The President also cited the upgrade of the 365 Kilometers Lusaka-Ndola road from a single carriage to a dual carriageway, revitalization of the Tazara Railways and the Construction of the Chingola-Kasumbalesa and the establishment of Multi Facility Economic Zones as some of the major economic projects achieved under the comprehensive Zambia-China Relations.

“We want to thank China for the continued support to Zambia especially during the debt restructuring period where you played a pivotal role” President Hichilema.

The Head of State said this when outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Du Xiaohui called on him at state house to bid farewell.

The President has since asked China to continue its diplomatic role of fostering Peace, Security and Stability for sustained global Economic and Social Progress.

Speaking earlier, Ambassador Xiaohui said since assuming office in 2021, President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration has attracted massive transformation towards modernization.
