Nkhakha ward Councilor in Chama North Constituency in Chama district of Eastern Province, Isaac Mtambo, has requested for the installation of communication towers in the area.

Mr Mtamba says the installation of the communication towers in his ward and surrounding areas will speed up the needed social-economic development in the area.

He reveals that Nkhakha ward has never had communication towers installed since independence, a situation he says has disadvantaged the area in many ways. 

Speaking in an interview with ZANIS , the civic leader lamented that the status quo makes it difficult for  people to communicate with each other, despite them having mobile phones.

“This has also affected civil servants like teachers and health personnel who have been sent to work in the area,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Councilor has hailed government for the various Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects taking place in the ward.

“Here a lot of youths  have benefited from Constituency Development Funds projects , through grants , loans and skills development training,” he said.

Mr Mtambo disclosed that a number of youths have  been enrolled in Trades Training Institutes to undertake skills training courses.
