Deputy Secretary to Cabinet, Oliver Kalabo says Public Service is the engine of any country to deliver quality services to the Zambian people.
He says that for any Government to function effectively, a proactive Public service must be in place to coordinate its activities.
He has since commended the National Health Insurance Management (NHIMA) for winning an innovation award at African Association for Public Administration of Management (AAPAM), which was held in Uganda recently.
ZANIS reports that Mr Kalabo was speaking during the official handover of an innovations award of silver trophy to NHIMA at the Cabinet Office who had won the prestigious award.
Dr Kalabo also expressed happiness that AAPAM, the body which nearly stopped operations, has continued its administrative functions of promoting public service delivery to countries.
And NHIMA Director General, Michael Njapau said his organisation won the innovation silver award because of embracing and the inclusion of digital space in the organisation.
He explained that the inclusion of digital technology in NHIMA has given the Institution more impetus to provide quality health services to the Zambian people.
Mr Njapau also disclosed that NHIMA has managed to service about five million citizens with its quality services health care system since its inception.
He noted that the innovation silver award the Institution scooped is an assurance of NHIMA’s dedication to providing universal health care services closer to people’s doorsteps.
