Govt urges Copperbelt to flood CAMINEX

Copperbelt Province Permanent Secretary Augustine Kasongo has called on Zambians to fully participate in the upcoming Copperbelt Agricultural, Mining, Industrial, Networking, Enterprises (CAMINEX) show to appreciate and help change the socio-economic narrative of the region.

ZANIS reports that Mr Kasongo says mining and agriculture sectors have massive potential to improve the country’s economy hence the need for people to attend the show and learn best practices to improve the two sectors.

He notes that attending the show , whose gates open to the public from the 28th to the 30th of May 2024 in Kitwe, will give people opportunities to tap different business prospects that will help them develop their businesses.

Mr Kasongo explained that President Hakainde Hichilema has stressed the importance of how the two sectors can improve the economy and this will be demonstrated by the exhibition of different machinery  by many companies so that people can acquire more knowledge on matters like mechanized farming.

The permanent secretary was speaking when an advance team from Cabinet Office in Lusaka  paid a courtesy call on him at his office.

“This show is not just about entertainment but it will also give farmers a golden opportunity to learn more about mechanized farming. You know President Hichilema has been talking about mechanized farming for a long time now’’, he said.

Mr Kasongo observed that tapping into mechanized farming will help government produce more than 10 Million Metric Tonnes of Maize per year, as targeted by President Hichilema.

And speaking after inspecting some stands in the showgrounds, Kitwe Distrcit Commissioner Lawrence Mwanza said all is set for President Hichilema to officially open the show to the public.

Mr Mwanza said exhibitors are just finalisng preparation of stands in readiness for the official opening.

He noted that so far 130 companies have confirmed participation stating that the number is bigger than last year’s exhibitors.

“This is so encouraging. Am happy that numbers keep going up, as we know we had suspended these shows due to the Covid 19 pandemic years back. But I am happy that we are getting back on track’’, he said.

Mr Mwanza has since called on Copperbelt residents to come and see the various activities that have been lined up.

President Hakainde Hichilema is expected to officially open the 2024 CAMINEX show which will be held under the theme: Unlocking Opportunities for Growth: Zambia’s Land Linked Position.
