ZNS launches Eagle mealie meal in Mbala

The Zambia National Service (ZNS) in Mbala District has launched the sale of its Eagles mealie-meal.

This is in an effort to provide cheaper mealie-meal for people in the district.

ZANIS reports that Mbala District Commissioner, Jestus Sikazwe, flagged off the sale of the commodity, which is locally produced in the district.

Mr Sikazwe said the move is a significant milestone towards improving food security in the area.

Speaking at the same event, ZNS Mbala Commanding Officer, Moses Tembo said the service has embarked on a robust programme of providing cheap mealie-meal to the people in the district.

Lieutenant Colonel Tembo explains that the mealie meal will be sold at K230 for a 25 kilogram bag of breakfast meal, while the roller meal will be fetching K190 per 25kilogram bag.

Meanwhile, Mbala Chamber of Commerce president, Christopher Siame has thanked the government for providing an opportunity to the residents to buy affordable mealie- meal.
