GOVERNMENT COMMITTED TO THE APRM PROGRAMME

THE Government says Zambia’s commitment to host the finalisation of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) National Programme of Action (NPoA) Plan reflects the political will that seeks to establish an enabling environment for an improved livelihood for its people.

Minister of Justice, Princess Kasune, said Zambia has successfully completed the consultation of the National Peer review which also seeks to rectify underlining deficiencies in governance as well as social economic development process among African Union member states.

In a Speech read for her by Ministry of Justice Permanent Secretary for Administration Isabelle Lemba, at the official launch of the finalisation APRM, NPoA Plan, the Minister said President Hakainde Hichilema remains committed to the programme that seeks to uplift peoples livelihoods as seen in the increased allocation of resources in the 2025 national budget.

She has since encouraged and called for action oriented recommendations from stakeholders attending the workshop.

Speaking at the same meeting, National Governing Council Chairperson for Egypt Ashraf Rashed, advised that there is a need for a robust approach in advancing good governance on the African continent.

Ambassador Rashed, has since assured Zambia for his council’s continued support towards the planning process of the APRM.
