CHEMBE Town Council in Luapula Province has procured a roller compactor at a cost of K1.9 Million using the 2024 Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
The roller compactor will complement a stock of earth moving equipment for the council to be utilised in the periodic maintenance of the road network in the district.
ZANIS reports that Council Secretary, Julius Katuka, explains that the local authority already owns a grader, a tipper truck and backhoe loader that were procured using the 2022 and 2023 CDF allocation to enhance road works in the area.
Mr Katuka states that with the available earth moving equipment, the local authority intends to construct about 12 kilometers of new feeder roads and upgrade 20 kilometers of existing roads in the district to ease movement of people and delivery of goods and services.
