THE World Boxing Council (WBC) has given Oriental Queries Boxing Promotion (OQBP) an opportunity to host a WBC International boxing match involving African Boxing Union Bantamweight Champion David ‘Sniper’ Mwale next year.
OQBP Manager Christopher Malunga disclosed that the boxing match will be held in April 2025 at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre.
Speaking at a Press briefing in Lusaka, Malunga stated that the WBC will announce Mwale’s opponent in two weeks, adding that the budget for the boxing match, which was earlier announced, will be adjusted once the opponent is confirmed.
“This is a very big achievement for Zambia. We have done it before, and we are excited about such an opportunity. It comes with huge responsibility, and the WBC has recognized the integrity of the promotion,” he said.
Malunga urged Mwale to give his best effort for the WBC International boxing fight and not to disappoint the country.
Speaking at the same event, David ‘Sniper’ Mwale said he was ready to face any opponent stating that he has been waiting for the boxing match of his dreams.
Mwale advised boxers in the country to remain disciplined and to be cautious of the company they keep, as it could affect their boxing careers.
Meanwhile, Oriental Queries Promotions coach Micheal Zulu stated that he will develop a detailed training plan to prepare Mwale for the WBC International boxing match.
