LUSAKA CITY COUNCIL CONCERNED WITH INDISCRIMINATE WASTE DISPOSAL

LUSAKA City Council Public Relations Officer Nyambe Bulumba has expressed concern by members of the public for indiscriminate dumping of waste in drainages.

Speaking in a telephone interview with ZANIS, Mr Bulumba says that this behavior has led to continuous blockages that have burdened the council to continuously unblock them.

Mr Bulumba added that the local authority has continued educating members of the public through various platforms on the dangers of indiscriminate waste disposal.

“We also have public health officers from the Ministry of Health that move door to door to educate and keep members of the public sanitised,” said Mr Bulumba.

Mr Bulumba added that  the council will continue to maintain and construct more drains.

He added that the local authority is also aware of the Lima Tower Bus Station floods and that they are working on a drainage system there.
