MINISTRY of Local Government and Rural Development has cautioned local authorities against mismanaging the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Dashboard.
The Dashboard is an innovative online platform which is aimed at providing a user-friendly interface for stakeholders to access and analyse CDF data thus promoting transparency, visibility, accountability, and informed decision-making.
ZANIS reports that Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development Director of Administration Ackson Habanji, warned that the Ministry will not hesitate to take disciplinary action against any officers whose dashboards are not up to date.
Mr Habanji said this when he officially opened a 5-day training programme on Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Dashboard and Website Management in Chongwe District.
He explained that the programme focuses on specialised software designed to track, analyse, and manage the performance, usage and implementation processes of the CDF.
“This software provides a holistic view of the entire CDF value chain, ensuring that all components are effectively monitored and any discrepancies are promptly identified,” said Mr Habanji.
He also pointed out the importance of involving Directors of Planning in the training, stressing that senior managers must understand and oversee the activities of their teams.
Mr Habanji further highlighted the role of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) in the CDF Dashboard, citing the need for accurate information, and the responsibility of Public Relations Officers in simplifying and narrating the information uploaded to the dashboard.
“Publication is key, as it demonstrates the government’s efforts and progress in implementing development initiatives,” he said.
