Access to clean water still a challenge in Solwezi

Northwestern Provincial  Public Health Specialist Kizitto Sampa says access to clean and  safe drinking water and good sanitation still remains a challenge in the province.

Dr Sampa said shallow wells have continued to pose a threat on people’s health in most communities in Solwezi district and the province as a whole.

He said this in an interview with ZANIS in Solwezi today.

“We have not remained idle or dropped our guard in this regard. Sensitisations have continued in communities   to ensure that they are accessing clean and safe water by chlorinating it,” he said.

Dr Sampa has since Urged members of the general public not to drop the guard of taking precautionary measures to prevent diseases outbreak like cholera.

He said the Ministry Of Health in the province is putting up long term measures to eradicate sanitation problems such as cholera saying this needs concerted efforts from members of the general public to be achieved.
