Mambwe council rehabilitates roads

Mambwe Town Council says steady progress has been made on the graveling and grading of roads which commenced in November 2023.

Council Public Relations Officer, Grace Lungu, said the total cost of the works was pegged at K1.5 million.

Ms Lungu said the road project was being implemented under force account basis using the 2023 Constituency Development Fund allocation.

She said that entailed that the Local Authority procured the materials and engaged skilled labor force to carry out the works.

Ms Lungu said so far the 10 Kilometers of the Kawaza via Nsefu road, the 15 Kilometers of the Chikowa road, the 2.5 Kilometers of the old Mambwe research road as well as the 1.5 Kilometers of the Chibebe road had already been worked on and completed.

She outlined the scope of the works as clearing and grubbing, skimming, grading, road alignment and formation.

Ms Lungu said the project scope also involved spot graveling compaction and construction of mitre drains.

She said works were still ongoing and were expected to be conducted in all the 15 wards of Malambo constituency, in Mambwe District.
