Govt. urges SCT beneficiaries to utilise mobile money

Kalulushi District Commissioner Kelly Jibinga has called  on residents in the area to consider complying with the use of paying Social cash transfer money using the mobile phones to promote efficiency.

Speaking in an interview with ZANIS Mr Jibinga said government is worried about the welfare of its people, hence the coming of various social protection programmes to address their challenges.

He noted that government has agreed that social cash transfer funds should be reaching the beneficiaries using their mobile money accounts, unlike paying them cash money on a table.

Mr Jibinga said there are so many risks that are attached to getting the social cash transfer funds on the table as the number of beneficiaries has grown.

He explained that there was no security on the officers carrying money for the beneficiaries for fear of being attacked.

Mr Jibinga urged the beneficiaries to consider registering their numbers on mobile money to avoid complications that come with the cash payment.

He noted that sensitisation has been going on social cash transfer hence beneficiaries have managed to correct their details on their mobile money accounts.

Meanwhile, Mr Jibinga has urged residents in the peri-urban of Kalulushi to consider registering mobile networks that are reachable in their area.
