IBA tells media houses to use alternative power sources

Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) has advised media houses to find alternative power sources to keep their station functioning.

IBA Director General Guntila Muleya noted that according to the IBA guidelines, stations need to be running all the time hence the need for all media institutions to look for other power sources.

Mr Muleya was speaking when he called on the Copperbelt Permanent Secretary at his office in Ndola.

He disclosed that IBA will tour media houses in the Copperbelt province as a way to appreciate some of the challenges being faced by institutions.

“We are encouraging them to take advantage of the opportunities that have arisen from the government as it is zero rated and we would like the participants to take advantage of such power sources,” he said.

Copperbelt Permanent Secretary Augustine Kasongo commended IBA for taking a move to tour media houses in the province and appreciate the challenges.

“It is important to interact with media houses as a way of knowing what is happening and affecting the media houses,” he said.

Mr Kasongo also urged IBA to continue visiting media as a way of ensuring that media houses run according to the guidelines.
