The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) says it has not issued any statement regarding the sacking or hiring of National women’s Team Coach, contrary to social media claims.
Social media has been awash with claims that the Football Association of Zambia has sacked national women’s team coach Bruce Mwape and hired Ghana women’s team coach Nora Hauple.
FAZ General Secretary Reuben Kamanga told ZANIS that once the association has taken a position on the matter, whether regarding Bruce Mwape or other national team coaches, it will inform the media.
“There is nothing from us (FAZ) yet. Anything circulating on social media has nothing to do with us; we have more important matters to address,” he said.
Kamanga urged mainstream media outlets not to rely on social media but instead to follow due processes and report factual information.
And Zambia Sports Fans Association Patron Peter Makembo has called on FAZ to clarify the rumors circulating on social media.
Makembo said fans are eagerly waiting for updates, adding that he will follow up with the association to seek clarification.
He further advised FAZ not to rush into hiring a new coach for the women’s team, as such a decision might disrupt the players.
He warned that a new administration, potentially coming in next year, might also opt to replace the coach, leading to instability.
Makembo urged soccer fans to remain calm, stay informed, and avoid spreading rumors on social media.
