GOVT WARNS AGAINST ILLEGAL LAND ALLOCATION IN PROTECTED AREAS

The Ministry of Green Economy and Environment has warned individuals involved in issuing land in protected areas that they risk being prosecuted.

Minister of Green Economy and Environment Mike Mposha says the illegal construction of structures in protected areas is affecting service delivery of forest management.

Speaking at the launch of the 2022-2026 strategic Plan and Service Delivery Charter in Lusaka today, Mr Mponsha emphasized the need to enhance sustainable forest protection and conservation.

Mr Mposha noted that the Ministry has identified four thematic areas that will help in implementing the programmes in the strategic plans such as the environmental and natural resources management, weather and climate services, operations and partnerships among others.

He added that the strategic plan will be operationalised through the cost-annual ministerial work plan.

Mr Mposha further added that if the plan is implemented it will address many new emerging challenges that the country is facing as a result of climate change.
