Visiting Mozambican President, Filipe Nyusi, has commended Zambia for the role the country has played in the liberation struggle of Mozambique.

President Nyusi said Zambia was supportive to countries in the region and Mozambique is not an exception.

He also praised Zambia for contributing to the peace efforts in the region.

He said as a sovereign country, the state retains the right and duty of building a governance model that works effectively.

President Nyusi said Mozambique is committed to the tenets of democracy.

The Mozambican Head of State said this during a maiden address to the Zambian National Assembly in Lusaka today.

Meanwhile, President Nyusi has urged Members of Parliament not to be afraid of making mistakes in their quest to improve the governance of the country.

President Nyusi said mistakes are not a problem if the main goal is to attain development for the country.

The Mozambican Head of State added that missing out on a process provides an opportunity to learn a new method of approaching things.

Earlier, Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti suspended the Business of the House to allow for the Presidential address.

Ms Mutti informed the parliamentarians of the impending address to Parliament by the Mozambican Head of State.
