President Hakainde Hichilema has described the late  Aaron Milner as a true patriot of the country who should be celebrated for his commitment to the country in the various positions he held.

Mr. Hichilema  said this when he today led mourners in celebrating the Requiem mass for the Late former Cabinet Minister in the UNIP government Aaron Milner at Lusaka’s Cathedral of the Child Jesus.

“ Aaron Milner was a patriotic citizen who distinguished himself well  and saved  the nation diligently. Together with other Zambians, he worked very hard and set the stage for the development of our country, “ he said.

Mr. Milner died in Zimbabwe on June 22nd and his body repatriated to Zambia on June 29th and his requiem mass was attended by several dignitaries and past and present government officials and freedom fighters 

And veteran Freedom fighter Mama Betty Chilongo said late Mr. Milner was a true fighter for the freedom of the country and was committed to serving the country. 

Mrs Chilongo  urged young  Zambians to emulate  late Mr. Milner’s  life and become patriotic to the country.

Meanwhile, United National Independent Party UNIP President Bishop Trevor Chanda said the country is grateful for the statesmanship and contributions made by the late Milner towards the country’s independence and liberation.

Others who attended the requiem mass included a number of Cabinate , party and security personnel.

Burial of the late freedom fighter and minister will  be held at Lusaka’s Leopards Hill memorial park.
