Design Thinking Africa, a Danish Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) has partnered with the Luanshya Technical and Vocational Teachers College (TVTC), to provide training skills in jewelry cutting.

Design Thinking Africa Executive Director, Patricia Mweene says the training is aimed at empowering Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (SME’s)   with high-end precision gemstone cutting skills that are required to meet the European (EU) fine jewelry industry. 

Ms Mweene has told the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS),in an interview  that the pilot training is also   aimed at building a skilled local workforce that will contribute to Zambia’s economic growth through high-end jeweler cutting.

Ms Mweene said the programme will lead to meaningful job creation in the Zambian jewelry industry leading to the international jewellery market.

Meanwhile, TVTC School Principal, Harrison Phiri said the program is vital to value addition.
