Chambishi Copper Smelter donates infrastructure to government in Kalulushi

The Chambishi Copper Smelter (CCS) has handed over classroom blocks, mother shelter, and an ablution block worth over K3,000,000 to government in Kalulushi District on the Copperbelt Province.

Chambishi Copper Smelter Chief Executive Officer, Wu Wen Jun, says his company is committed to partnering with government to improve school infrastructure and access to education for school children.

The Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) reports that Mr Jun said this during the handover ceremony in Chambishi area.

He said through its social corporate responsibility, the company has constructed classroom blocks at both Chambishi and Chibote Primary Schools, a mothers’ shelter at Kalulushi General Hospital and an ablution block at Chati South Boarding School.

Kalulushi District Commissioner, Kelly Jibinga, thanked the mining firm for the donation which will not only help the community but also the future generation.

Mr Jibinga urged other companies in the area to emulate Chambishi Copper Smelter in contributing to the community.

And the District Education Board Secretary, Boola Malambo, also expressed gratitude to the company for uplifting the education bar for learners.
