THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has advised Super League teams to be innovative.
FAZ General Secretary Reuben Kamanga says football clubs need to tap into the potential of earning financial resources from fans that attend football matches if they are to sustain themselves.
In an interview with ZANIS Sports, Kamanga observed that while the Zambia Premier League (ZPL) is responsible for pitching for sponsorship to the corporate world for the benefit of the clubs, the teams also have the responsibility to make their own money.
“If we can tap into that mass that is going to watch these games. We need to monetize, teams need to take advantage of the crowd.
“Of course, ZPL is doing everything to try and give money to clubs, the clubs must see within themselves and make money out of the fans that are going to the stadium so that they make money to try and sustain their football activities,” he said.
And the FAZ General Secretary said ZPL is doing well since its launch in 2023 adding that giving independence to the league by establishing ZPL has been beneficial to the sport locally.
Kamanga said ZPL has gained the necessary momentum to help the football clubs.
“ZPL was launched and is gaining traction that should go and attract sponsors across the country. So far it’s been set up and is doing extremely well.
“They are on the fast lane trying to mobilize resources to make sure the clubs are given more resources for them to compete in different competitions,” Kamanga added.
The ZPL is a commercial wing of the Football Association of Zambia.
