AG KABESHA CALLS FOR IMPARTIAL JUDICIAL SYSTEM

THE Attorney General of the Republic of Zambia Mulilo Kabesha has called for an impartial justice system in the country aimed at according to every individual an opportunity to seek fair justice.

Mr Kabesha says the Judicial system should continue to be non discriminatory regardless of the socio-economic status of citizens when seeking justice.

Speaking during the opening of the 2025 Chinsali High Court Criminal Sessions in Muchinga Province, Mr Kabesha charged that the combination of impartiality and access to justice will further gain public trust in the judicial system in the country.

“The upholding of such values by legal practitioners allows confidence by the public in the proceedings of cases through the objectivity and professionalism exhibited,” he added.

He further implored all legal practitioners to ensure that they practice their law according to the provisions of the judicial system.

And Muchinga Province Judge In-Charge Willie Sinyangwe has appealed to government to expedite the construction of court infrastructure projects in the province.

Judge Sinyangwe said the completion of court infrastructures will help to effectively deliver Justice in a well conducive and designated environment.

“It is our hope through our Provincial Minister that this matter can have its level of urgency attached to it,” he added.

The Judge In-Charge also made an assurance of timely delivery of Justice within the stipulated time frame of court proceedings.

Meanwhile, Muchinga Province Minister Henry Sikazwe has reaffirmed governments commitment towards improving the status of infrastructure for the Judiciary.

The Provincial administration will continue to pursue the issue of court infrastructure with a focus of finishing off stalled projects such as the Chinsali subordinate court.

Mr Sikazwe stated government is cognisant of many other challenges that the judiciary is facing in the province, stressing that the escalation of such challenges can be attributed to the new status of the province.

“I further wish to mention that the provincial administration has doubled its efforts in sensitising communities on the dangers of taking the law in their own hands,” he added.

The Provincial Minister also pointed out that these efforts have been necessitated due to the increased numbers of murder cases particularly in Mafinga and Nakonde districts.

The ceremonial opening of the 2025 Chinsali High Court Criminal sessions was held under the theme:  “Exploring  and Employing Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanism In Criminal Cases, As A Tool to Counter Delays in Delivery of Justice.”
