CDF IMPROVES INFRASTRUCTURE IN KAPUTA

A civic leader in Kaputa District in Northern Province has praised the government for the various developments taking place in his Ward.

Luntomfwe Ward Councilor Kennedy Kafwanka says his ward has recorded development among them school infrastructure using Constituency Development Fund (CDF) which cannot go without mention.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 11th Ordinary Council meeting held in the Kaputa Council Chamber, Mr Kamfwaka has observed that the developments in the area have helped to change lives of people in the ward for the better.

Mr Kafwanka named some of the developments as the construction of Kalumba Primary School built using CDF stating that this has enhanced learning and teaching in the area.

He also revealed that the local authority will in 2025 put up street lights at Kalolesha junction to enable traders trade at night.

“In 2025, Kaputa Town Council will put street lights at Kalolesha junction, the council will also construct a maternity annex at Luntomfwe Clinic, these are among the many projects that CDF is doing in the ward,” he revealed.

The civic leader further mentioned that the government through the Road Development Agency (RDA) is renovating Luntomfwe crossing point.

Mr Kafwanka said the crossing point has been flooding every year, posing a danger to many road users.

He added that once worked on, movement of goods and services will improve.

“In the past we have suffered a lot, as you know Luntomfwe stream connects Kaputa to Chienge District in Luapula Province, the bridge there has been bad, it was actually a danger to people and once worked on it will be a relief to people,” said Mr Kafwanka.

Mr Kafwanka said people in his ward are happy to see RDA on site, working on the crossing point which has troubled them for a long time.

Meanwhile, Mofwe Ward Councilor Joseph Katongo has appealed to the local authority to build staff houses at Matobwe Primary School to improve teachers’ accommodation.

“Our teachers do not have where to stay, Matobwe is the oldest school in my ward and I am therefore urging the local authority to use CDF to construct teacher houses,” said Mr Katongo.

The CDF in Kaputa has made tremendous progress in providing infrastructure development in schools and health centers.
