A cooperative in Lupososhi District in Northern Province has planted over 1000 pine trees.
This is aimed at mitigating the adverse effects of climate change and a long term investment for the cooperative.
Chaba Kumutima Cooperative Chairperson Raphael Chongo says his Cooperative has undertaken the project at a cost of K40,000 .
In an interview with ZANIS, Mr, Chongo disclosed that the cooperative acquired the funds through the 2024 Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
“This development is not only helping us sustain our lives, but also a joint effort with other stakeholders to migrate the effects of climate change,” he said.
He has since called on government to continue offering technical and monetary support to the group in order to achieve their intended goal.
“The trees we are planting today are for the future of our children. We are therefore asking government to come and join us in ensuring that this objective is achieved, with continued support to the cooperative,” Mr. Chongo explained.
