The Patriotic Front (PF) in Eastern Province says it is supporting the United Party for National Development (UPND) candidate for the Petauke Central seat Severian Lungu.
Eastern Province PF Chairperson Andrew Lubusha says all the PF structures in the district will support Mr Lungu to effectively secure the seat.
Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting in Petauke, Mr Lubusha said the PF will ensure it uses its ” arsenal” in order to secure the Petauke Central seat for the UPND.
“The PF are behind this candidate here (Severian Lungu) so let us work together, let us deliver this seat as a gift to President Hakainde Hichilema,” he said.
Mr Lubusha attributed this decision to the development he has seen not only in his Constituency but countrywide.
“In my Constituency Chipangali, we were crying for a network, the President gave us 11 towers and already six have been installed,” he said.
Meanwhile, Headman Chalima Levy Mwanza indicated that the traditional leadership in Petauke was also behind the UPND candidate.
Headman Chalima said the traditional leadership has seen what the New Dawn government has delivered in the period it has been in power.
He said due to what the UPND has delivered in its three years, it has given the traditional leadership the impetus to trust it.
And the Presidential Political Adviser Levy Ngoma expressed happiness with the interactions with various stakeholders in the political and non-political spheres.
Mr Ngoma said the interaction gave him the true picture of what was prevailing on the ground.
“I am happy that I will tell the President the truth of what is on the ground, because if I did not interact with you, I would have lied to him.
” That is why I am happy today that we have engaged with stakeholders, we have engaged with the church, traditional leadership, farmers and so many different groupings,” he said.
