OVER 50 THOUSAND CASH FOR WORK BENEFICIARIES PAID

Lusaka City Council (LCC) has paid over K31,352,400 to 52,897 Cash for Work (CfW) beneficiaries in Lusaka district since the inception of the programme last year in August.

LCC assistant Public Relations Manager Bulumba Nyambe revealed that payments are ongoing adding that not all beneficiaries have been paid.

“The Ministry of Finance is expected to provide funding to the Local Authority in the coming days, enabling the payment of remaining beneficiaries for October and November 2024,” Mr Nyambe said 

He added that the City Council remains committed to administering the Cash for Work Programme in a professional manner and   improving the livelihoods of community members affected by previous droughts.

He added that beneficiaries were receiving K600 per day for the 10 days worked for, through public works and projects adding that payments were being released in phases from August to December last year

The Cash for Work programme is a government initiative designed to provide temporary employment and immediate financial relief to vulnerable individuals impacted by the 2023/2024 drought.
