National Association of Smallholder Farmers Executive Director, Frank Kayula has urged the Government to increase the number of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to benefit from the Products Standardization training.
Speaking in an interview with ZANIS, Dr Kayula says, the Government should have more SME farmers to benefit from the training in order for the country to meet the requirements of the Africa Continental Free Trade Area.
He says the training will not only improve farmers’ livelihood and production but also develop the country at large.
“Farmers must be ready to participate in the Africa Continental Free Trade Area for them to have a bigger market outlet, and increase their income,” said Dr Kayula.
Meanwhile, Dr Kayula has urged farmers to be aware of fake fertilizer on the market.
He says farmers should only purchase fertilizer and feed from the national suppliers with genuine products.
“ We have developed an app that is yet to be launched that farmers will be using to purchase fertilizer from the right suppliers to curb the supply of fake fertilizers,” he added.
