Mansa District Education Board Secretary Ireen Chikoti has applauded government for promptly disbursing school grants for term one.
Ms. Chikoti reveals that all the schools in Mansa district have received the full amount of grants for the first term of the 2025 academic year.
ZANIS reports that the Mansa District Education Board Secretary ( DEBS), indicates that the timely distribution of grants will contribute to the smooth running of schools in the district.
Ms. Chikoti observed that school managers will not have to struggle to look for money to procure the learning materials which are needed as the money is already there.
She pointed out that government has stipulated proper guidelines on how schools should be utilising grants.
“These monies should not be misused but rather they should go towards addressing issues which schools are facing so that there can be effective learning,” she said.
The DEBS stated that the development has simplified things as money is coming in schools at once as opposed to the way the situation was when pupils were paying school fees.
And Mansa Mayor Njikho Musuku says no school should chase any pupil for not putting on a uniform.
The Mayor pointed out that not having a proper school uniform should not be a reason why a learner cannot access education.
He noted that the idea of free education is to make education accessible to everyone, even those without proper uniforms.
“But I want to urge parents to try by all means to buy uniforms for their children as they are not restricted to buy from schools but they can get them from anywhere,” he says.
Mr. Musuku indicated that uniforms give pupils an identity in case of the unexpected.
The Mansa Mayor has since commended government for actualizing the free education policy and also increasing the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) which is enabling them implement projects such as the construction of more schools.
This week the Ministry of Education announced that it has disbursed over K 700 million as grant for schools across the country.
