LUSAKA CITY COUNCIL ALLOCATES K3.2 MILLION FOR ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE

LUSAKA City Council has allocated K3.2 Million towards the implementation of the Transport Services Programme in the city under its 2025 budget.

This funding is dedicated to the Road Transport Sub-programme, aiming to enhance the city’s road infrastructure, ensuring safer and more efficient travel for residents.

LCC Assistant Public Relations Manager, Bulumba Nyambe says the council will prioritise patching roads with potholes in all seven constituencies of Lusaka.

In an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today, Mr Nyambe stated that this effort aims to provide access to motorists and pedestrians, ultimately reducing the risk of accidents.

He emphasises that this allocation is crucial for enhancing transportation within Lusaka, facilitating easier movement of people and access to goods and services.

Mr Nyambe mentioned that a total of 21 kilometers of roads, consisting of 3 kilometers in each constituency, will have potholes repaired.

He added that this initiative directly contributes to safer driving conditions and reduces vehicle damage.

Mr Nyambe further stated that the local authority’s efforts demonstrate its commitment to improving local infrastructure, enhancing safety, and ensuring a better quality of life for the community.

However, residents of Lusaka’s Northmead area have raised concerns about a large pothole located at the T-junction of Benakale Road and Chozi Road.

They explained that due to its position, drivers are forced to swerve into the oncoming lane, posing a significant risk of accidents.
