CHISAMBA COUNCIL GIVES 30 DAY LAND REPOSSESSION WARNING

THE Chisamba Town Council has given its clients who have not yet developed their land a 30 day ultimatum, failure to which the land will be repossessed.

Chisamba Town Council Public Relations Officer Clara Mulenga says some land developers acquired land as far back as 2016 but they have not constructed meaningful structures on their plots.

Speaking in an interview with ZANIS, Ms Mulenga noted that the situation is hindering development in the area.

Ms Mulenga said the type of plots range from low, medium and high cost to commercial plots.

She noted that currently, state land is sold out in Chisamba yet most of the land developers have not developed their land.

Ms Mulenga said the ultimatum is directed to those who have not developed their plots, those who have not paid for the properties and those who only made partial payments.

“The Town Council clearly indicated in offer letters that the developers were to start putting up structures on their plots within 18 months of receiving the letters. However, most have left their land dormant for years and the place looks deserted,” she said.

Ms Mulenga stated that after the ultimatum, the local authority would repossess the plots, re-advertise and re-allocate them to other clients who are ready to develop them.

“We are encouraging those who wish to finish making payments to visit our offices within 30 days. The council wants developers who are serious, as opposed to those who make part payments and leave the land bare,” she said.
