Construction of a 1×3 classroom block to commence at Chimbilima School in Chama

Authorities in Chama District of Eastern Province  have handed over a site to Majomosa Construction Company to construct a one by three classroom block at Chimbilima Primary school.

The one by three classroom block at the school was reportedly blown off in 2017.

Town Council Public Relations Officer, Michael Chisanga, says the classroom block will be constructed at a cost of 738, 000 Kwacha using the Constituency Development Fund.

Mr Chisanga said this at the handover ceremony of the site to the construction Company.

The project which is expected to commence within the period of two weeks, will run for a duration of three to four months.

Meanwhile, Chimbilima Primary School Acting Head teacher, Martin Ngulube, has thanked the government for the gesture and pledged to work with the contractor so that the project is expedited to accommodate learners.

Mr Ngulube has appealed to government to construct more classroom blocks as well as staff houses at the school.

“The school is growing at a faster rate therefore, there is need to construct more classroom blocks and teacher’s houses,” he said.

And Phalauseni Ward Councilor, Eddison Phiri, said the school is grappling  with accommodation for learners and that the development will help to improve the situation.

“The construction of an additional one by three classroom block at the school will aid in improving performance among learners,” he stated.
