Government is happy with Zambian companies that have responded to the power deficit induced by the drought experienced during the 2023-224 rain season by coming up with Solar based solutions.
Minister of Energy, Makozo Chikote says renewable energy innovations by private organisations will contribute to Government’s efforts to alleviate the impact of challenges brought about by the drought.
The Minister of Energy was speaking in Lusaka during the signing of a partnership between Solarmacs Energy a local company with Vestwoods a Chinese firm which operates in some North and Southern African countries.
Mr Chikote who was represented at the event by the Chief Planner in the Ministry of Energy Ozirior Chaila said as companies come up with solar innovations that help bridge the energy gap, the cost must be fair for the consumers.
And Solarmacs Board chairperson, Friday Malwa says the partnership with Vestwood is in response to President Hakainde Hichilema’s recent visit to China where he invited Solar Energy investors to invest in Zambia.
Mr Malwa said Solarmacs believes that renewable solar energy if well harnessed will empower citizens and businesses to take control of the needs and contribute to national development.
