A 28 year old woman of Zombe Village in Senior Chief Nsokolo’s Chiefdom in Senga Hill District has been axed to death by her husband.
Northern Province Commanding Officer Lucky Munkondya has confirmed and named the deceased as Racheal Namfukwe.
Ms, Mukondya disclosed in an interview with ZANIS that on the material day around 08:30 hours the deceased while in the company of her husband identified as Richard Sichula 40, left home for shopping at an open market popularly known as “umunanda” which was held at Nsokolo.
Later around 10:30 hours people from Zombe who were on their way to the open market found the deceased lying in a pool of blood along the road with an axe stuck in the head.
The Commanding officer revealed following a report via cellphone by Martin Simfukwe, of the same address police rushed to the crime scene and found the axe that was used to commit the crime stuck in the head.
The the deceased body was later deposited in Senga Hill District Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examinations before burial.
Ms Munkondya said a man hunt has since been launched for the culprit who is still at large.
The commanding officer has since appealed to the public who may have information of the whereabouts of Richard Sichula to report to the police.
