Matambo nods to organisations supporting free education policy

Copperbelt Province Minister Elisha Matambo  has pledged support to  organization that are  ready to supplement government’s efforts in promoting the National development agenda of free education policy

Mr. Matambo has commended the move by Support Sustain Succeed Zambia (SSSZ) for constructing a one by three classroom block at Mapalo bread of Life Community School in Chipulukusu area in Ndola District .

He was speaking in Chipulukusu during a ground breaking ceremony of a one by four classroom block and commissioning of a one by three classroom block which was  constructed at about US$20, 000  to cater for the near by community learners in Chipulukusu compound.

Mr. Matambo said that the SSSZ foundation has procured 20 laptops, 10 canon Cameras a projector among other technical equipment so that pupils can become computer literate.

Education Standards Officer in Charge of Languages Patson Mukuba  said  government desire is to create an enabling environment for learners and teachers.

Mr. Mukuba called on Mapalo Bread of Life Community School management to always consult the Provincial Education Office whenever a need for help arises.

He said government has put  an emphasis on the importance of school hence the introduction of free education policy.

Founders of SSSZ  Miriam Hans said education is the only way of eradicating poverty in Communities. 

Mrs. Hans noted the SSSZ foundation is a non governmental organization based in Kentuky in the United States of America and has been working with Mapalo bread of Life  Community School for over four years now.

She pointed out  that want to sponsor  pregnant girls to go back to school by constructing them a shelter at Mapalo community School were helpers will be based to remain with the child while the mother is attending class.

Mapalo Bread of Life Community School Head Teacher  Samson Phiri  noted  that advocacy for the poor (ADP) is working with support Sustain Succeed Zambia in ensuring that pupils  are provided with the much needed support for smooth running of the school.

The Headteacher disclosed that the school has a total number of 654 pupils with a view of enrolling more pupils next year.

He said that the school management is also  requesting for grade nine examination center to be accorded so as to motivate learners around chipulukusu compounds.

However Mapalo Bread of Life Community School pupils  Dalitso Phiri  said thanked the government together with it’s partners for the items donated to the School and that the school will surely guard the items jealously.

The donations has since seen over 650 pupils directly benefit from the donations from SSZ and Advocates for the Poor.
