Lufuma hails Chinese support to health sector

Minister of Defence Ambrose Lufuma says government will continue to value China’s contributions to Zambia’s health sector.

Mr Lufuma said government appreciates the level of cooperation in the health sector between the two countries.

He was speaking during the celebration of the 40th anniversary of China-Zambia military medical cooperation in Lusaka.  

Mr Lufuma said government will continue to solidify cooperation in areas of medical equipment, technology and training.

The Defence Minister also praised the 26th Chinese military medical team for participating in providing medical care services at the cholera Centre where they worked together with their Zambia counterparts.

He explained that during their operation in the country, the team also participated in the breast cancer awareness programme and established the trauma and rescue unit at Maina Soko Medical centre.

 “As we bid farewell to the 26th Chinese military medical team we look forward to working with the new 27th Chinese Military medical team that is coming to take over from their friends who are leaving,” he said.

He commended the three defence wings for working together with their Chinese counterpart in the health sector and called for the continued collaboration.

And Chinese charged Affairs to Zambia, Wang Sheng said over 40 years of joint efforts made by China and Zambia has achieved fruitful results for the two countries.

Mr Sheng said China will continue to uphold the spirit of China-Africa friendly cooperation proposed by President Xi Jinping aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
