Lumezi District Commissioner Lufeyo Ngoma says government is committed to fostering good governance in the country.
Mr. Ngoma says government is committed to creating an environment where every citizen has a voice, where innovation and progress is encouraged and shared values guide the country’s development.
He reasons that in just three years of being in power, the new dawn government has made significant strides towards uplifting the social- economic welfare of citizens.
The District Commissioner said this Lumezi District Thursday during Zambia’s golden jubilee held under the theme: “60 Years Strong: Honoring Our Heritage, Embracing Our Future, ” held at Zumwanda’s Chiefdom trading Centre.
And Mr. Ngoma called on residents of Lumezi to not only envision a Zambia that cherishes it’s past but also actively shapes its future.
“Independence day is not merely a commemoration of our freedom, it is a testament to the courage and determination of those who tirelessly fought for our sovereignty.
” As we reflect on our heritage, let us remember that it encompasses the diverse cultures, languages and traditions that make our nation,” Mr. Ngoma said.
Speaking earlier, Lumezi Town Council Chairperson, Oliver Mwale said this year’s theme for independence is a tribute stresses the need for citizens to embrace the country’s heritage while envisaging a prosperous future.
“I want us to embrace a culture of tolerance and love for one another regardless of one’s political party, tribe or religion,” he said.
Mr. Mwale emphasized that that independence was about reflecting the Country freedom struggle and how economic emancipation can be attained through corrective hard work.
