Government says it is committed to sustaining the country’s economy amidst social economic challenges.
Central Province Duty Permanent secretary (DPS) Godfrey Chitambala says the new dawn government under President Hakainde Hichilema remains committed to uplifting living standards of citizens across the country.
He said this at National square ground in Serenje District during the commemoration of the Diamond jubilee independence celebrations.
The event which was well attended by members of the community was celebrated under the theme: ‘’60 years strong: Honouring our heritage, embracing the future.’’
Speaking at the same function, Serenje Town council Chairperson Staivous Mulumba observed that the challenges the country is going through demands innovation, hard work and unity.
Mr. Mulumba stresses the need for the country to invest more in education, healthcare, infrastructure and sustainable development to ensure the country continues to grow and prosper.
Meanwhile, Serenje District Freedom Fighters Association Secretary Nasion Nguni urged citizens to remain united.
Mr. Nguni further called on the government to look into the plight of freedom fighters.
