Government will hold a Memorial Service to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the late fifth Republican President, Michael Chilufya Sata.
ZANIS reports that the late President Sata passed away on October 28, 2014.
According to a press statement released by Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa, the Memorial Service will take place on Monday, October 28, 2024.
Mr Kangwa stated that the event aims at honoring the late President Sata’s legacy and contributions to the country.
He disclosed that the memorial programme will begin with a Requiem Mass at the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Lusaka at 9:30 hours.
“This will be followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the Presidential Burial Site at Embassy Park,” Mr Kangwa said.
“Members of the public are invited to join in remembering the late President, who dedicated his life to improving the lives of Zambian citizens and developing the nation,” he said.
Mr Kangwa stated that the late President Sata served as the Republican President from 2011 to 2014.
He added that the late President Sata was known for his commitment to social justice, equality and his leadership focused on empowering marginalised communities and promoting national unity.
The Memorial Service provides an opportunity for Zambians to reflect on the late President Sata’s vision and legacy.
