Govt. releases funds to finance public service delivery

Government through the Ministry of Finance and National Planning has announced that in February this year, it released Eleven point Seven Billion Kwacha (K11.7 billion) to finance public service delivery.

Secretary to the Treasury, Felix Nkulukusa in a media statement to ZANIS says of the released funds, K2.1 billion went towards transfers, subsidies and social benefits, while K1.3 billion went towards implementation of various Government programmes and general operations.
Mr Nkulukusa further explains that K911.3 Million was allocated towards capital expenditure programmes with a further K3.1 billion spent on debt service both domestic, external and arrears, while the public service wage bill consumed K4.3 billion.

Meanwhile, the Finance Minister, Situmbeko Musokotwane, has reiterated the affirmation of the year 2024 as Zambia’s year for further unlocking economic potential.
The Minister assures that the Government’s policy will continue to be targeted at contributing to economic transformation and growth through, among others, an efficiently and effectively managed public sector that is positioned to ensure that efforts are made to lessen the hinderances faced by citizens in doing business.
“In line with the foregoing paradigm, the Government will this week be hosting a Townhall Meeting on unlocking Zambia’s economic potential through enhanced import, export and border process efficiencies, on Thursday, 14th March, 2024”. The Minister has announced.
