Upgraded water reticulation system pleases Katongo Community in Lusaka

Katongo Community School Headteacher, Binwell Mulenga says the coming of the water reticulation system in the area has helped the community to have access to clean drinking water.

Mr Mulenga explains that previously people used to fetch water from the stream after the borehole stopped functioning.

in an interview with ZANIS after a team from the council visited the area, the Education technocrat added that pupils at the school have also benefited from the accessible clean water.

“This water is also helping us carry out gardening and other things and we are really grateful that government has thought of us,” he said.

Xavier Chishimbe, a youth a local builder has thanked the local authority in Lunte for putting up the water system as this has made his work easier.

“We are very grateful for this water because in the past we used to fetch from a stream and in some cases the water would not be enough as almost the whole village fetched its water from there,” he said.

The water system was installed using the 2022 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) at a cost of K746,300.

The project has seen the connection of three small, piped water network, each having three kiosks to cater for Katongo community.
