An 18-year-old girl of Chifubu township in Ndola District has allegedly committed suicide by hanging her self to a roofing plank in her bedroom with a scarf.

Police Commanding Officer, Peacewell Mweemba says the incident occurred on October 28, 2024 around 09:30 hours.

“Facts are that the deceased, Astridah Zulu who is a Grade 12 pupil went to attend overnight tuitions away from home

And when she returned home at around 06:30 hours her mother was upset and scolded her.

She then went to the room,” Mr Mweemba narrated.

He said after some time her mother went to check on her and found the deceased hanging from the roofing plank with a scarf.

Mr Mweemba said the Mother then called her husband who later reported the matter to the police station.

He said the police then visited the scene where they inspected the body adding that they observed that the tongue was protruding from her mouth and the body had no physical injuries.

Mr Mweemba said the body was later taken to Ndola Teaching Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem and burial.
