President Hichilema expected in Mkushi

President Hakainde Hichilema is tomorrow expected in Mkushi district, Central Province where he is expected to launch the harvest of the early maize cereal and the planting of the production of winter maize.

According to Provincial Permanent Secretary Milner Mwanakampwe, President Hichilema will be on a one day working visit, where he will interact with the people of Mkushi to appreciate the production of maize in the area following the persistent dry spell that characterized the current farming season.

He says that President Hichilema will also discuss the planting of winter maize.

Mr Mwanakampwe notes that Mkushi is an agricultural hub which also accounts for more than 60 percent of the country’s wheat production, stating that some farmers will be on standby to start wheat production.

The Central Province Permanent Secretary has explained that the President is expected to land at Joe Daka’s farm at 10 hours, then later proceed to Sadote farm within the Mkushi farm block.

Mr Mwanakampwe adds that the Head of State is also scheduled to interact with the people of Mkushi at the country club before he returns to Lusaka.
