Minister of Youth, Sport and Art, Elvis Nkandu, has implored sports organisations to embrace First Aid training programmes.
Mr Nkandu stated that First Aid training programmes are essential to reducing injuries during sporting activities.
He called for empowering individuals, sportsmen and women with First Aid knowledge as it is crucial in serving lives and in creating a safer environment for sports activities.
The Minister said this in a speech read for him by Lusaka Provincial Sports Coordinator, Doris Mulenga, during the commemoration of the World First Day held at the Lusaka showgrounds.
And Mr Nkandu commended the Zambia Red Cross Society for launching the Marshall Fire training.
He pointed out that the training will greatly assist in addressing the gaps in handling fire outbreaks.
The Minister implored organisations to ensure that employees in the workplace are trained in both First Aid and Fire Marshall.
Speaking earlier, Zambia Red Cross Society National Training Chair, Daniel Ngoma, said First Aid training can provide immediate care in sports-related incidents.
Mr Ngoma stressed that First Aid education is crucial in enhancing safety in sports settings.
He explained that First Aid provides proactive measures which are essential to save lives in sports for all ages.
