Liliachi Rural Health Centre Acting In – Charge, Bydon Nyirenda, has described the ongoing measles-rubella vaccination exercise as a success.
Mr Nyirenda says no cases of parents refusing to have their children vaccinated have been recorded so far.
He, however, told ZANIS in Nalolo that long distances to the health centre pose a challenge to parents.
“Some residents travel far and when we visit neighborhood health centres (NHCs), many are out seeking food, hence we find few people,” Mr Nyirenda explained.
He said that those reached out do not show any resistance at all, adding that communities are encouraged to visit nearby facilities for vaccination.
Mr Nyirenda urged all parents to vaccinate their children before the campaign ends on September 28, 2024.
Parents who have already vaccinated their children called on others to do the same.
Muyunda Saeli, said prevention is better than cure hence the need to protect the children from measles.
Another parent, Maswabi Sitibekiso, added that parents and guardians must ensure that all children under five receive the vaccine.
