President Hakainde Hichilema, has called for unity and peace among Chiefs of Central Province as they mourn the death of Chief Kanyesha who died at the University Teaching Hospital on September 23.
President Hichilema says there’s a need to mourn the late Kanyesha the 8th in peace and dignity urging the traditional leaders to be united.
Speaking when he met Chiefs of Central Province at the late Kanyesha’s Lunsomo palace in Luano district, the Head of State cautioned the chiefs and the Kanyesha royal establishment against engaging in differences during the time of mourning.
He stressed the government’s commitment to help where needed.
President Hichilema has described the late Kanyesha as a hard worker and a friend who accommodated diversity in his reign.
And the Chiefs have praised President Hakainde Hichilema for joining them in mourning one of their own.
Representing the Chiefs, Chief Chibale of the Lala people who is also Provincial Chairperson of the council of Chiefs, stated that it is the first time that the Chiefs have witnessed the presence of a Head of State at a funeral of a traditional leader.
Chief Chibale also noted that the government has provided logistical support towards the funeral of the late Kanyesha.
Meanwhile, Chembe bemoaned poor communication networks in the area and appealed to the government to put up communication towers to ease communication.
The traditional leader also has appealed to the Government to ease the process of acquiring mining licenses saying the process takes long.
