President Hakainde Hichilema is on Sunday October 6, 2024 expected in Nakonde District in Muchinga province to grace the Umutomolo Traditional Ceremony of the Namwanga people.
Muchinga Province Minister Henry Sikazwe has told ZANIS that President Hichilema will arrive in the District on Sunday and address Nakonde residents.
Mr Sikazwe said President Hichilema is expected to officiate at the ground breaking ceremony of the expansion project of the Nakonde One Stop Border Post.
Mr Sikazwe added that the Head of State will then proceed to grace the Umutomolo Traditional Ceremony of the Namwanga people.
“ I can confirm that the Head of State will be here. And his first programme upon arrival is to address the people at the airstrip and then proceed to the ground breaking ceremony before officiating at the Umutomolo Traditional Ceremony”, he noted.
The Minister urged residents to come in numbers and receive the Head of State.
Mr Sikazwe said this will be the second time that President Hichilema will visit the province adding that he is yet again expected to come and officiate at the ground breaking ceremony of the airport In December.
He explained that in the 2024 budget the government has allocated a number of infrastructure projects in the province among them roads, airstrips and the airport.
Mr Sikazwe added that President Hichilema has shown interest to develop the province just like any other provinces in the country and not lagging behind.
“ Government wants this province not to lag behind. This is why they are ensuring that we should be on the same pace”, he noted.
Mr Sikazwe said President Hichilema will depart Nakonde for Lusaka the same day after concluding his visit.
