Mpika resident defaces his ex-wife’s lover

It is important that couples deal with soul ties after breaking up and move on before they meet their next love.

Otherwise , a former partner may become too attached to the extent of becoming aggressive to anyone who crosses his or her path thereby committing crimes of passion.

Such happened to a 49-year-old man who is nursing a serious head injury at Chilonga Mission Hospital.

This was after he was attacked and defaced with an axe by his fiance’s former husband who is said will do everything possible to stop the couple’s planned wedding.

Confirming the ordeal to ZANIS in an interview, Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Dennis Moola identified the victim as Chanda Charles of Kaole Village.

Mr Moola said the incident happened on Sunday 6th October 2024, around 17 hours at Kaole village in Mpika District.

He added that the matter was reported to the police by Richard Malama, 32 of the same village.

The Police Commissioner narrated that his officers were informed that Innocent Chanda allegedly axed Charles Chanda, 49 after allegedly finding him with his former wife, Angela Mukungule, 32, also of the same village.

According to Mr. Moola, the assailant who  had divorced Ms. Mukungule some time back to the effect that  the dowry he paid to marry her was returned to him.

The Police Commissioner further said that after the assailant allegedly heard that his ex wife’s new catch had since proposed marriage to which she agreed, it became a bitter pill to swallow to the extent that he rushed to the couple’s house armed with an axe to finish the business.

Upon arrival, the assailant axed his victim defacing him with multiple cuts in  the process.

The victim is admitted to Chilonga Mission Hospital where he is receiving treatment.

Mr. Moola said his condition has been described as stable.
